Library Announcements

  • It’s a book club, but it’s not a book club. Everyone reads a book, but everyone doesn’t read the same book. Everyone reads a book of their choice of the same author. This new group will meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. at the Minneola Library beginning September 2. The first author will be Jeffrey Archer. Mr. Archer, a British writer, is the only writer ever to have been a number one bestseller in fiction, short stories and non-fiction.  Mark Twain, considered by some to be the real founder of American literature, will be the author featured on October 7.  For November 4 everyone will read one of Louise Penny’s mysteries. Ms. Penny writes her crime fiction from her home in a small village south of Montreal.  Jane Austen will be the topic on December 2. Participants may want to read old favorites Emma, Pride and Prejudice, or Sense and Sensibility. Everyone who likes to read is welcome! For further information, contact the library at 352-432-3921.

  • Beginning in September the Minneola Schoolhouse Library at 100 South Main Avenue will offer Story Time every Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 for pre-school children. In the month of September the focus will be on the St. John’s River and those creatures that can be found there. On September 3 we will read the book There’s an Alligator Under My Bed. In the following weeks we will feature river otters, dolphins and pelicans. The beginning of October will bring us butterflies and frogs. On October 15 Author Maddie Lock will read her book Ethel The Backyard Dog. She will be bringing an autographed copy of her book to be given to one lucky participant. All pre-school children are welcome! For further information, contact the library at 352-432-3921.
