You may have met Annie Bartlett, the character who grows up in author Irene Ziegler's collection of short stories, Rules of the Lake. Ziegler's novel, Ashes to Water, is also set in a small central Florida town and follows Annie as she returns home and becomes ensnarled in this mystery/thriller. Now you have the opportunity to meet Annie's creator, Irene Ziegler, when she appears at the Leesburg Public Library, 100 E. Main St., Leesburg, Florida 34748 to discuss growing up in pre-Disney Florida, her journey as a writer, and how she came to write Ashes to Water. Ziegler's novel was a reading selection this year of the Leesburg Library Literary Guild (Book Club). This free program will be held Saturday, March 10th at 2:00 pm. Ziegler's books will be available for sale and signing. For information, please call (352) 728-9790 or e-mail email@example.com.
Irene is also an actor. She has had recurring roles or guest starred in many notable TV series and films, and is probably the voice on your cell phone’s GPS, so kindly stop yelling at her. Among her plays are the staged adaptation of her first book, Rules of the Lake, and a comedy with music, Full Plate Collection. Irene is also a producer, and directs Virginia Arts & Letters LIVE, an annual event which features Virginia actors reading short stories by Virginia writers, accompanied by Virginia musicians. Irene lives on the James River in Virginia in a renovated English thrashing barn. She has one husband, one son and one wolf-dog. She was once yelled at by Anne Bancroft.
