Sun Safety @ the library

While being outside and having some exposure to sunlight can be enjoyable, too much exposure can be dangerous. Overexposure can cause serious health effects including skin cancer. You can make a difference! Come to Cagan Crossings Community Library on July 9 from 5-6pm to learn about skin cancer and improving your sun safety. Dr. Sajeve Thomas from the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando will be presenting the latest information on sun safety and skin cancer awareness.

If you or a loved one are worried about developing skin cancer, have just been diagnosed, are going through treatment, or are trying to stay well after treatment, Dr. Thomas can help you find the answers you need. You can help reduce your risk by incorporating sun protection into your daily routine. A sun protection regimen should include covering up with clothing, including a hat and UV-blocking sunglasses, as well as daily sunscreen use. Free sunblock samples will be provided to everyone in attendance.

Dr. Thomas received a fellowship at the University of Florida and completed an internal medicine residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He is a medical oncologist for MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando. For more information please call 352-243-1840 or visit our website at
