Understanding Medicare

The Fruitland Park Library invites you to a free seminar in “Understanding Medicare” on Thursday, May 30 from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. This program kicks off a series of seminars on the first Thursday of each month starting June 6th. The programs will be conducted by SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders), a free program offered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and your local Area Agency on Aging. Specially trained volunteers can assist you with your Medicare, Medicaid, and health insurance questions by providing one-on-one counseling and information. SHINE services are free, unbiased, and confidential.

This seminar will include a basic understanding of Medicare, and explanation of what the Annual Enrollment Period by Medicare is all about. Topics to be covered include the following:
• Medicare Basics
• Choosing a Medicare plan that fits your needs
• Switching Prescription Drug Plans during the Annual Open Enrollment Period – October 15 to December 7
