BookFest 2014 Display Awards

The Lake County Library System is proud to announce Delicious Reads Library Awards. These fantastic displays have been created by library staff to increase awareness of BookFest events.

Best Overall Presentation award goes to the City of Tavares Public Library for the Delicious Reads Diner! Service beyond your expectations is available at the Reference “Lunch Counter” where the menu serves up a variety of “foodie” mysteries along with coffee and donuts. The Diner is certain to “serve up a slice of suspense” this year in the Reading Room.

Best Creative Design is awarded to the Paisley County Library. Appearances can be deceiving! That is the basis for this year’s Bookfest theme “Dangerously Delicious Reads.” There are several clues in this display that point to different stories that involve deception and mystery. Is this your typical Grandma or is she not as sweet as she appears? You decide!

Best Promotion of Theme is awarded to the Astor County Library and their Delicious Reads Diner. The table is set with a colorful gingham tablecloth, event placemats, red Coke glasses and red roses for a touch of elegance. Posters advertising the upcoming Bookfest and local events decorate the back of the table. The Rock ‘n Roll juke box just behind your table awaits your music selections.

Second place for Best Overall Presentation goes to the East Lake County Library for their display featuring posters, desserts and instruments of murder. Their original interactive event, “Murder at the Library,” is featured.

Third place for Best Overall Presentation is awarded to the Leesburg Public Library. The window features books by authors that will be appearing in a delightfully delicious setting. Book covers are displayed in lovely cupcake holders under the words ‘Delicious Reads…Feed Your Mind.” A side of suspense is offered with inclusion of the cake knife in the display.

Best Creative Design second place is awarded to the Umatilla Public Library. There is a challenge posted on the backdrop for the viewer to locate ten hidden classic murder weapons. The answer key is on the back of the display, which lists all the author events around the county libraries.

Third place for Best Creative Design was a tie with two fantastic entries by the Cagan Crossings Community Library and the W. T. Bland Public Library. Cagan Crossings Community Library's youth services staff sets a "deliciously sweet" book display. The W. T. Bland Public Library features a showcase and tribute to the local cooking talent of churches, groups and non-profits in the Mount Dora, Eustis and Tavares area through the years. A truly “Delicious Reads.”

Second place for Best Promotion of Theme goes to the Fruitland Park Library for Aspen Meadows, Colorado where Goldie Shultz of Goldilocks’ Catering is dying to cater your next function. Goldie is getting ready to cater an event at the library, but thought she would sit down and take a moment with her favorite author, Diane Mott Davidson, before heading to her next murder.

Third place for Best Promotion of Theme goes to the Cooper Memorial Library. The display features books by visiting authors James C. Clark, Vicki Delany, R. J. Harlick, and C. B. Forrest. There are several cooking items, a bottle of white wine, a delicious pink and white ceramic cake with pink rosettes, and a variety of delicious or dangerous fruit?
