The Florida Library Association will hold the 2009 Annual Conference May 5 – 8 in Orlando.
"This is a great time to promote the importance of libraries. I have read that if libraries are storehouses of knowledge then librarians and other library staff members are managers of this knowledge. The 2009 conference will focus on exploring the many ways to achieve our goal of connecting our communities with the emerging knowledge of the universe." ~ Mercedes Clement, FLA President for 2008-2009.
At the end of the conference, Lake County Library Services Director Wendy R. Breeden will be installed as FLA President for 2009-1010. The theme for her term will be “FLA: thinking outside of the book.” As Florida libraries and the Association cope with the economic situation over the coming year, they will be looking for ways to improve and streamline communications, training and customer service. Ms. Breeden has also served FLA as a Board Member, Secretary, Legislative Committee Chair and Vice-President. In 2006, she was presented with the first ever FLA Leader of the Year Award.
