Carving Out Wireless Work Areas in the Library
Use of the Library’s wireless network has quietly grown since it was installed. While some people like to sit in our comfortable reading chairs others want tables or desks to work singly or together. After a suggestion by a patron, we started moving some furniture and adapting other furniture for wireless use. Thanks to the City’s talented building maintenance staff, we are adding additional electrical outlets for laptop use. The next step is to move 2 two person study carrels that got little use, drill holes for electrical cords and voila they are now ready for laptops. All in all, we will have 8 laptop workstations throughout the library.
Hurricane Preparedness Seminars
Unfortunately it is time for our annual hurricane preparedness seminars. Our speakers will include our local Fire Department, Electrical Department, the Lake County Emergency Management, Hillcrest Insurance Agency and the Red Cross. There will be informational handouts, door prizes and light refreshments. Remember August 15 through September 15 has historically been the busiest period of the 6 month hurricane season. So put these dates in your calendar and plan to come:
- Tuesday, August 4 at 2 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 11 at 7 p.m.
