Festival Authors Win Awards

The Lake County Library System is proud to announce that several of our Festival of Reading authors are recipients of the Florida Book Awards.

  • Adrian Fogelin is the Gold Medal winner for Children’s Literature for the second time for her latest book, The Sorta Sisters. Last year her book The Real Question won in the category for Young Adult Literature.
  • Edward Bloor was awarded the Silver Medal in Young Adult Literature for his novel Taken.

Two of our most admired authors have won Bronze Medals for Popular Fiction.

  • Mary Anna Evans is the winner for Effigies, the continuation of her series about archaeologist Fay Longchamp;
  • Lake County’s own Bob Morris won for Bermuda Schwartz, the latest in his island- based Zack Chasteen series.

The 2008 RITA nominees are in from the Romance Writers of America and two of our authors are on the list.

  • Best Contemporary Single Title Romance Finalist includes The Sleeping Beauty Proposal by Sarah Strohmeyer
  • Best Paranormal Finalist includes Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair.

The 2009 theme for the Festival of Reading is Fantastic Florida. Events will be held March 25th through the 28th. Nationally recognized writers will participate in special events and in our annual fiction writing workshop. Confirmed to date are Bob Morris, Elaine Viets, Dr. Gary Mormino and Dr. Kristen Congdon.
