Frightful festivities
Mandi Paige

Autumn has officially arrived. The theme parks start to showcase there frightful festivities, stores welcome fall decorations, the Halloween superstores suddenly pop up and my favorite Starbucks welcomes back the Pumpkin Spice latte yum! To continue with the new season's offerings comes the 2nd annual Trash to Fashion at the Cooper Memorial Library.

We have put much thought into this year's event hoping to encourage more of the fabulous entries we had at last year's contest. We welcome back the fabulous host and star of Vamped, Revamped and Fangtastic, Gina Covello and her beautiful and timeless author Lucienne Diver.

As I thought of this year's entertainment it seemed obvious who to ask, the lead vocalist of the pop/rock band Gemeni, sisters Lisa and Gina Gomez. These recording artist have a talent that surpasses their age with a love for music that makes watching them as exciting as hearing them play!

Now, I hope you don't think that is by far all that is happening this year?? I received a message from the Clermont based comedy troupe, The Vaudevillians. Fantastic news, they wanted to be a part of our event, and that got my brain raining down some ideas. So be prepared to laugh, on very random occasions as we welcome The Vaudevillians into the crowd. "Picture It" is the theme for Teen Read Week so you are encouraged to get photos with our actors as well as the musicians and we will actually have a photo hot spot for just that.

As you enjoy the the unique creativity and talent of each design that takes the red carpet please enjoy some wonderful sweet confections from the Tavares High School Culinary Department. As an added bonus this year's contest is not only open to 16-25 but 11-15 year olds as well and each will receive make-up done by Mary Kay Beauty Consultant Christy Caughell. Not to mention that the contestants are competing for fabulous prizes!

So you must come and join us for this free show at Cooper Memorial in Clermont, Fl. The event starts @11am Saturday, October 22nd.
