Cooper Library Staff Welcomes Beth Lucas

Lake County Library System staff is honored that Beth Lucas is joining us as the new Head of Reference at Cooper Memorial Library. Beth was born and raised in northern New Jersey and received her Masters of Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Beth has over 20 years of professional library experience. She began her career as an Instructor at Valdosta State College where she was a member of the reference staff and served as the Government Documents Librarian. After moving to Florida, Beth started working for the Osceola County Library System. She began as a reference librarian and progressed to Library Manager. Over the years, she has worked as a Branch Manager, Head of Reference, Head of Collection Development and Head of Collection Services. When she is not working, she enjoys going to the movies, reading and spending time with her family.

Beth was presented with an iPad by the Friends of the Cooper Memorial Library for training purposes. All of the reference staff have spent time working with the iPad which has allowed them to better assist customers who have questions about their iPads, especially how to check out and read e-books from the library through Overdrive. This knowledge base has better prepared reference to help customers with other devices as well.

Cooper Memorial Library is presenting an iPad Basics class at 2 pm on January 12th for anyone who wants to learn more about their iPad. Space is limited and registration is required.
