First Annual South Lake Green Festival a BIG success!

Amy Stultz

On March 17, 2012, 500 adults and children joined 33 local businesses and performers for the First Annual South Lake Cooper Memorial Green Festival. There was something for everyone to enjoy.

The Clermont Police Department distributed 52 bicycle helmets to eager adults and children. Balloon creations, face painting, and a bounce house entertained kids of all ages while businesses offered educational workshops, hands on activities, and products at their booths. In addition, the Big Red Bus collected 18 units of blood and were thrilled to have far exceeded their expectations. A big thank you must go out to the Lake Sumter Community College and Student Government Association for all they did to support this effort.  They were not only a full partner, from planning to implementation, but the students took turns entertaining the kids as Froggy, our mascot, and ran games for all to enjoy.  They were wonderful!

As a result of this success, planning has already begun for the Second Annual South Lake Green Festival, spring of 2013. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the First Annual South Lake Green Festival. We’ll see you next year!
