Square Foot Gardens Coming in the Fall

The Lake County Library System will be receiving Square Foot Gardens donated by Mel Bartholomew and the Square Foot Gardening Foundation. The gardens will be planted at the Marion Baysinger Memorial County Library; Paisley County Library; City of Tavares Public Library; and Helen Lehmann Memorial Library. Each garden will include a one hour long introduction to All New Square Foot Gardening including the foundations, fundamentals, and techniques of the Square Foot Gardening method with expert Steve Earls of SFG Supply in Eustis. The dates will be announced in the fall.

The libraries were selected to receive the gardens when Mr. Bartholomew visited Lake County in February. Each site needed a volunteer group willing to maintain the garden throughout the year. The gardens will be used to beautify the library grounds and to teach old and young.

Mel Bartholomew is the author of All New Square Foot Gardening, the largest selling gardening book in America with over two million copies sold. This simple system adapts to all levels of experience, physical abilities, and geographical locations. Grow all you want and need in only 20% of the space of a conventional row garden. Save time, water, work and money! Registration is not required. The Foundation is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to end world hunger by reaching out to families and teaching them how to grow healthy food for their daily meals, thus improving their diets and getting the family interactive with each other.
