2012 Adult Summer Reading Program

Fruitland Park Award Winning Library
JoAnn Glendinning

This year’s theme for the Adult Summer Reading Program is “Between the Covers”. This phrase brought to mind many possibilities – What happens between the covers…you get where I’m going with this.I’m thinking of going in a different direction with this theme. I’m always hoping for a good night’s sleep and many adults anticipate the same thing. So, with this being said, this year’s topic will be “How do I get a Good Night’s Sleep”?

Have you ever heard of the term “sleep like the dead”? Well, the Fruitland Park Library’s Book Club has. Their selection for the month of August is “Dead Sleep” by Greg Iles. The group will meet on Monday, August 20th at 10:00 am in the library’s conference room. All are invited to join in.

The fun begins when Rona Gold comes to visit on Thursday, August 9th at 10:00 a.m. She will interpret dreams and will explain what they could mean. Come prepared with a dream you want to know more about.

On Thursday, August 16th, Myla Thompson, of Tuesday’s “”Knitting with Myla”, will be on hand to show us how to sew a lavender sachet to place under your pillow at night. It is said that the scent of lavender helps with a good night sleep.
It wouldn’t be an award winning program without our friend Julie England from the University of Florida’s Extension Office with some neat tips for a great night sleep. You don’t want to miss Julie’s program. Hopefully, it will put you to sleep…tonight.
