East Lake Happenings!

Summer Continues

East Lake is in full swing with its Summer Reading Program. The programs have been popular and well attended. The library hosts special guests on Mondays at 11:00 a.m.

Continuing these excellent programs, Caring Canines will be in the library on July 1, Jules Turcsanyi, amateur archealogist and Florida Historian, on July 8, the Florida Public Archaeology Network on July 15 and Lowe's Home Improvement on July 22. Crafty Thursdays with Outrageous Readings at 11:00 a.m. will have a Digging for Dinos on July 11, Build Your Own Treasure Chest on July 18, Make Your Own Pirate Purse and Treasure Map along with a Treasure Hunt on July 25. The Teen Scene on Fridays at 11:00 includes Create Your Own Superhero on July 12, Board Game Day on July 19 and Zombie Invasion on July 26.

The Adult Summer Reading will hold a second program on Tuesday, July 2, at 6:00 p.m."Fear No One" deals with personal safety and how to avoid being a victim. On July 9 the Palm Writer's Group will have a program on How to Publish an eBook on Amazon. July 16, the East Lake County Library Book Club will meet. This unique book club allows members to read and share thoughts on their favorite books. The summer events will wrap up on July 23 with the Library Murder Mystery.   A staff member will be “murdered” in the library and attendees will have to find clues to solve the case. See if you can solve the murder and find the killer.

The weekly Toddler and Pre-k storytimes are held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. September will kick off the fall programming for kids. This includes science experiments, K'nex Klub as well as some new programs from theYouth Department. Enjoy the rest of your summer and be safe.
