Cooper Memorial Library is hosting another great season of programming, with fabulous events to capture everyone’s tastes and interests. On that note, we proudly present our programs at Cooper Memorial Library for January through March 2014, entitled “Jazzy journeys”.
The Pastfinders Genealogy group meets on the second Thursday of the month from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Room 108. Their next meetings are Thursday, January 9th, February 13th, and March 13th.
The CML Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of the month, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., in Room 221. Their next meetings are Tuesday, January 21st,, February 18th, and March 18th.
Opera@theLibrary continues its successful monthly programs in Room 108 B on the fourth Monday of the month from 1:45 to 5:00 p.m. with informative lectures and outstanding opera performances for the general public. Our January 27th program will be Handel’s baroque gem Rodelinda, our first-ever foray into the Baroque repertoire. Our February 24th program will be the second installment of the Donizetti Three Queens with Maria Stuarda, and on March 24th we will present a premiere performance of Francesco Cilea’s tragic love story Adriana Lecouvreur.
Our new Movies@theLibrary program for 2014 is in full swing and everyone is invited to enjoy a free block-buster movie. Movies are shown at 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Mondays in room 108 B on January13th and February 10th. Watch a new blockbuster movie and enjoy free popcorn and soda. All movies are rated PG-13 so call the library at 352-536-2275 for all the movie details.
Our Computer Classes are in full gear and we are offering free classes on Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. in room 202 (Computer Lab) with Internet Basics on January 14th and February 11th. We are also offering free iPad classes on Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. in room 108 with iPad Basics on January 9th and iPad Apps on January 16th. Pre-Registration is required for these classes as seating is limited. Windows 8 classes are also available so please the Reference Department at 352-536-2275 x2623 for further details.
Our Cooper Concert Series 2014 will feature a great performance from the Music Remembrance Jazz Trio on Thursday, February 6th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on the Main Floor of our library. Everyone is welcome and invited to attend and enjoy an afternoon of great jazz tunes.
Join Astrophysicist Kevin Manning for a fun and enlightening program including light pollution and its effects, and then view our Clermont night sky through the telescope outdoors. Roadmap to the Stars: The Night Sky Explained will be presented on Thursday, January 16th, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in room 108. All ages are welcome and everyone is encouraged to attend this fun and enlightening science program. This event is generously funded by our Friends of the Cooper Memorial Library and is part of our Amateis Green Living Series.
