Money Smart Week @ Your Library

'Money Smart Week @ your library,' is a national initiative between the American Library Association and the Federal Reserve Bank (Chicago) to provide financial literacy programming to help members of your community better manage their personal finances.

The Astor County Library will host Organizing Your Finances a program developed by Julie England UF/IFAS Lake County Extension on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 1:30 - 3 p.m. Learn how your personality affects your spending and take steps to create a plan to meet your financial goals. Understand your money personality and establish goals for a secure financial future. For information call 352-759-9913. The City of Tavares Public Library will host two programs on Tuesday, April 8 presented by participating partners of Insight Credit Union. The first, Social Security- What You Need to Know will be held at 2 p.m. with TransAmerica. Representatives will talk about the purpose of Social Security, the consequences of taking it too early, reasons to wait and other Social Security secrets! Registration is requested: 352-742-6204.

The second program, Florida Wills & Trust, will be presented at 3 p.m. with Attorney Tom Olsen. Learn about preparing Wills in Florida, establishing Trusts and easy ways to avoid PROBATE! Olsen has a broad general practice background who answers almost any type of legal question on his "Olsen on Law" radio show. Registration is requested: 352-742-6204.

On Wednesday, April 9, these two programs will be repeated in the Lady Lake Public Library by participating partners of Insight Credit Union. Social Security- What You Need to Know will be held at 10 a.m. with TransAmerica. The second program, Florida Wills & Trust, will be presented at 3 p.m. with Attorney Tom Olsen. The Fruitland Park Library will hold a story time for kids will learn about how to save their pennies for the Money Smart program. The program will take place on Wednesday, April 9th at 10:30 a.m. For the craft, they will make piggy banks out of Pringle cans so they can save their pennies. One of the books that will be read is The Berenstain Bears’ Trouble With Money.
