East Lake County Library Happenings

Welcome once again to the Happenings at the East Lake County Library located in Sorrento. This month we wanted to tell you about our very successful programs we had in October and December. In October we had our Annual Pumpkin Patch/Pumpkin Decorating program. We had all 25 pumpkins picked and decorated by the kids. We had over 30 kids and adults in attendance. In December we had our 2nd annual Ornament Decorating program with over 30 kids and adults in attendance. Each child decorated two ornaments with assorted cfart items. The kids had holiday punch and Christmas cookies. Our final big event was the Faux Gingerbread Decorating program. We had 25 houses made out of graham crackers. All 25 houses were decorated with royal icing and various candy. There was hot chocolate and each child receiveda Christmas mug filled with holiday goodies. We look forward to those events in the new year. Keep an eye out for their future date annoucements.

We have a new program coming to us on Wednesday, March 4th from 11:45am to 1pm, for the “How to Start Your Own Business” Brown-Bag (bring your own lunch) Seminar. It is presented by the Small Business Development Center at the University of Central Florida. It is a great program with a lot of helpful information on 'how to start a business'. We hope to see you there.

Finally, don't forget about the East Lake County Library's Annual Bluegrass Festival to close out the 2009 Festival of Reading. This year's date has been set for Saturday March 28, 2009. It will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you have never been there is plenty of music, singing and dancing. There is also the East Lake Friends of the Library book/bake sale, community rummage sale and raffle. There will also be food, face painters for the kids and other entertainment. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the day at the East Lake County Library. Hope to see you!
