In addition to a summer full of great reading, public libraries in the Lake County Library System are presenting loads of special programs this summer. Here’s a peek at just a few special presentations you are invited to attend.

Star Wars Days with the 501st Legion will happen twice this summer: at the Cooper Memorial Library on Saturday, July 12, from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.; and the Cagan Crossings Community Library on Saturday, August 2, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Kinetic Kylie from Mad Science will dazzle audiences with her zany experiments show at the Mascotte Civic Center on Thursday, June 19, from 2 – 3 p.m.; the Tavares Civic Center on Monday, June 23, from 2 – 3 p.m. and at the Mount Dora Community Building on Thursday, July 24 from 2 – 3 p.m. Fruitland Park Public Library will offer two different Mad Science shows – one on Tuesday, June 24, from 10 -11 a.m. and a second show on Tuesday, July 15, from 10 – 11 a.m.

There’s plenty more free fun in store for you this summer at your local public library. Magician Todd Kay and Storyteller Katie Adams along with the popular John Storms and his Reptile Show will be appearing. Check your library for details.  Downloadable brochures are available.

Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with chances to win prizes for reading, storytimes, craft programs, summer movies, and special shows.
