Fruitland Park Library Introduces New Director

Jo-Ann Glendinning

The Fruitland Park Public Library has a new Director and she is a woman with a secret. Jo-Ann Glendinning was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ and graduated from Saint Peter’s College with a BS degree in Marketing Management. After graduation, Jo-Ann was accepted into the United States Secret Service where she was assigned to the Foreign Missions Branch and The White House. She was appointed to the White House during President Ronald Regan’s second term.

Two of Jo-Ann’s most prized possessions (besides her two children) are the signed letters by Ronald Regan that hang on her office wall. One congratulates her on her marriage to her husband Jim and the other thanking her for her years of service with the Secret Service.
Jo-Ann is married to her husband Jim, who is the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Orlando Field Office in Orlando. They have two children, John who is a senior at Eustis High School and will be attending UCF in the fall, and a daughter Jenna who is in the 8th grade at Eustis Middle School and is in the Jazz Band. They moved to central Florida from Fredericksburg, VA after 9-11. John, who was going into 7th grade at that time didn’t want to move until they told him that the girls in Florida wore bikini’s to school.

Jo-Ann started her library career at the WT Bland Public Library and thanks Director Stephanie Haimes for pushing her in the right direction. She also was the Children’s Librarian at the Tavares Public Library. You can reach Jo-Ann any day at the Fruitland Park Library by calling 352-360-6561 or stop by and ask to see her signed letters at 205 W. Berckman Street, Fruitland Park.
