As we approach the Fall that means the holidays are right around the corner. With the holidays means programs at the East Lake Library. We start the month of October off with a movie on Saturday October 3 from 1200 - 200. The movie is Halloween appropriate but is aimed for kids of all ages. Popcorn and lemonade will be provided.
On Saturday October 17 from 1000 - 300 the Friends of the East Lake Library will be having their Fall book/bake sale, as well as a raffle and community yard sale. Food will be available for purchase. The East Lake Chamber of Commerce will have its pumpkin patch selling pumpkins, gourds, etc. A special event put on by the Friends for the first time will be a mini-pumpkin painting program in the library's meeting room for kids 16 and under.
On Saturday October 24 from 1100 - 1200 the East Lake Library will having its annual pumpkin patch/pumpkin decorating program in the meeting room. This program is limited to 25 children. Sign up is at the circulation desk or call 352-383-9980. There will be witch's brew and goody bags for the kids. Come enjoy a day of fun at our fully deocorated room.
In November we are having a young local author by the name of Ephraim McCormick come in to do a reading of his work His books are aimed at children and young adults. In conjunction with that his publisher will be on hand to discuss the aspects of being published. Both will give their insights into the challeneges of being publish and what needs to be done to be published. Refreshments will be available. The program will from 700 - 900 on November 3 and on November 7 from 1200-200.
On November 21 we will have movie starting at 1200. Popcorn and lemonade will be available.
On December 5 from 1100-1200 we will have our Ornament Decorating program. This program is limited to 25 children. Sign up is at the circulation desk or call 352-383-9980. There will be holiday punch, holiday cookies and holiday music. Come by and check out the fully decorated community room.
On December 19 from 1100-1200 we will have our Faux Gingerbread House program. We provide pre-made houses for the kids to decorate with edible items. Items are attached via royal icing. This program is limited to 25 children. Sign up is at the circulation desk or call 352-383-9980. Each child is asked to bring a bag of candy or some other type of edible item suitable for attaching. There will hot chocolate, goody bags and holiday music.
