International Thriller Author Jamie Freveletti

HarperCollins Book Tour

From internationally bestselling author Jamie Freveletti comes a riveting new thriller featuring brilliant biochemist Emma Caldridge, except this time there's nowhere to run. . . . This HarperCollins author on her national book release tour will appear at the W.T. Bland Public Library on Tuesday, July 20th at noon as the featured speaker for the Brown Bag Book Club. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy coffee and dessert. She will appear once again in the Four Corners area at the Cagan Crossings Community Library at 6 p.m.

Ms. Freveletti’s debut thriller, RUNNING FROM THE DEVIL, has been nominated for best first novel by the International Thriller Writers organization. When it was released last May Booklist called Freveletti’s first novel a, “pulse-pounding thriller” and New York Times bestselling author, Lee Child, says "Just terrific-full of thrills and tradecraft, pace and peril. An outstanding debut."

Now she's back with her follow up, RUNNING DARK that sends her protagonist, ultra-runner and chemist Emma Caldridge, to Africa where she goes up against a crew of Somali pirates. Kirkus has already raved, "Stocked with ruthless warlords, grenade-launching baddies, duplicitous middle men, a stoic pilot and, let’s not forget, the deadly box jellyfish, the book is squarely in the Peter Benchley mode, only with a female hero front and center."

Ripped from the headlines, Freveletti relied on experts to make her thriller plausible. She inter-viewed Commodore Warwick, who captained the Queen Mary II for over thirty years and Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Paul Salopek who wrote the original piece Freveletti used as the starting point for RUNNING DARK. With their insight and her unlimited imagination, Freveletti was able to create a compelling, yet completely plausible, thriller. RUNNING DARK is an action-packed, fast-paced story, with intriguing scientific detail that readers will not be able to put down.

Jamie Freveletti is a trial attorney, competitive runner and holds a black belt in Aikido, a Japanese martial art. After law school she lived in Geneva, Switzerland while obtaining a diploma in Inter-national Studies. In Chicago, she represented clients in areas ranging from class actions for mass salmonella poisoning to securities fraud. She currently hosts the Chicago Literary Salon: An Evening of Drinks and Debate.

Events are free, sponsored by HarperCollins Publishers. Books will be available for purchase from Raintree Books.
