Library Bookmarks from the W. T. Bland Public Library

The W. T. Bland Public Library in Mount Dora offers a variety of programs and activities for all age groups. We are featuring our Books and Cooks Book Sale on Saturday, November 13 from 9:00am to 3:00pm and we will also be celebrating our Library’s 105th birthday. Join us for this very special event!

Additional programs may be added so pick up a monthly calendar at the Circulation Desk.  We hope to see you at some of the events highlighted below:

Lego Club2nd &4th Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m.
Lego donations are needed and will be accepted at any time. Open to boys and girls in grades K – 5. Must pre-register

  • Wednesday, October 6 at 4 p.m. – Lego Workshop with a Master Lego Model Maker – no pre-registration required but arrive early, space is limited
  • Wednesday, October 13 at 4 p.m. – pre-registration is required
  • No Lego Club on Wednesday, October 27 due to Early Voting

Writer’s Café – 4th Tuesdays at 7 p.m.
Amonthly get together for local writers, poets and listeners to share their work – 4th Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

Adult/Senior Scrabble Club – Every Wednesday starting February 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Meets at the Simpson Farmhouse Meeting Center FREE

Mah-Jongg Club – Monday (1st, 2nd & 3rd of each month) at 6:30 p.m.
Meets at the Simpson Farmhouse Meeting Center (next door to the Library.) All skill levels. FREE

Quilting with Pat – 8 week courses on Saturdays from 10:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Simpson Farmhouse Meeting Room (next to the W. T. Bland Public Library) :
Intermediate/ Advanced course starting October 2 through Nov. 27.
Beginning course starting January 8 through February 26, 2011
Cost is $20 and is payable at time of registration to reserve your place. Class size is limited to 15 students. Register at the Circulation Desk.

Help Wanted: An Employability Skills Seminar – A monthly program to help you sharpen up your job hunting skills with Iris Clas of the Leesburg Goodwill Self:
Monday, October 1 at 10:30 a.m.
Friday, November 5 at 10:30 a.m.
Friday, December 3 at 10:30am

Brown Bag Book Club – Now on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 12 p.m.
