East Lake has just had its Annual Bluegrass Festival and it was again highly successful. We had over 1700 attend and enjoy the bands and other festivities. Our Friends organization had a very successful book/bake sale, in which the proceeds will help future library programming and purchases. The East Lake Historical Society did a great job selling their hot dogs. They actually ran out of them and had to buy more.We want to thank the bands Blackwater Creek Bluegrass Band, The Over the Hill Gang and Making Time ( formerly High Caliber) for coming out and performing. We also want to thank Steve Earls, the Square Foot Gardner and Happy Faces face painters. Everyone had a great time and look forward to next year. We hope everyone can come out next year.
A reminder to everyone that our Friends will have another sale in the fall and we plan on having more music. The band line-up is still to be determined. So just keep watching for details.
One last thing is we are fast approaching the Summer Reading Program. We kick off the week of June 18th with ventriloquist/magician Jungle Jimmy at 1100 AM. We will have John Storms, the Reptile Man on June 25th at 1100 AM. We will have the Central Florida Zoo on July 9th at 1100 AM. Other acts are in the process of being booked. We will also have a craft/story activity time every Thursday at 1100 AM. The program runs through July 23rd.
