Paisley Library in Florida?

Elise Rainey

The staff at the Paisley County Library has been having fun with their foreign patrons. Paisley, Scotland to be exact!

It all started with a lovely couple by the name of Bob and Mairi Smith. The Smith’s were vacationing in Daytona Beach and came over to Lake County to visit Florida’s Paisley. They wanted to buy a Paisley History book, but we were all out. Not wanting to disappoint our guests, I took a picture of the couple and sent it to our local paper, the North Lake Outpost. Matt Newby, the owner, was nice enough to print it on the front page in color. I sent the Outpost, along with the book they were wanting at the time, to their Scotland address. Bob and Mairi were so excited they showed our paper to a reporter for the Paisley Dailey Express. Of course, they did an article on us with our paper and Bob sent that edition to me along with a History of Paisley Scotland Book.

Meeting new people like the Smiths make my job that much more fun. Maybe we can get the bigger Paisley to adopt us as a sister city someday.
