New Youth Services Supervisor Welcomed

Jessica Luby chosen to lead the Youth Services team in Leesburg

The Leesburg Public Library is pleased to announce that Jessica Luby, formerly a Library Assistant at the Leesburg Public Library, has been chosen from the field of applicants to take on the role left by the resignation of Lois Gross.  At the end of July, Lois and her husband returned to the New York area where most of their extended family are located.

Jessica has been accepted for her MLIS studies at Florida State University.  She has also been chosen to attend the 5th year of the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute.  Jessica and her team; consisting of Natalie Houston, Young Adult Librarian and Lesley King, Library Assistant, have been busy making plans and developing programs for the coming year.  They are looking forward to welcoming a new Assistant that will be taking the place vacated by Jessica's promotion.

This team has been instrumental in increasing use of the library by all the children, teens, and parents over the past few years.  Jessica's enthusiasm for service to the youth of Leesburg has been demonstrated in the many new programs she and her team have developed over the past year.  The 2008 Summer Reading Program started by Lois, and carried on by this team as a team effort, broke all attendance records for the Library.

Please join us in congratulating Jessica.
