Training and Fun for All at the library

Barbara Perry, Learning Coordinator for the Lake County Library System, will be coming to the Astor County Library in January and February to teach several classes.  The "Learning How to Use Your Kindle" class will be offered on Monday, January 6th, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.  Barbara will be giving informative tips on how to get the most out of the Kindle E-Reader device, including how to open an Overdrive account through the library's website and download books.

On Monday, January 13th, Barbara will be back to present 2 different training classes.  From 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, she will provide users with a basic overview of Windows 8 that includes simplified navigation, personalizing the Windows 8 experience, adding tools to the start screen, and adding tools to the desktop for quick access.  The second class, "Getting Started with Facebook", will be presented from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.  During this 2-hour session, Barbara will be teaching attendees how to set up a Facebook account, create a home page, and connect with friends old and new.

Barbara will return to Astor on 3 Mondays in February to teach classes on Microsoft Word.  The dates and subjects of these classes will be: Monday, February 3rd--Introduction to Word; Monday, February 10th--Graphics; and Monday, February 24th--Tables.  Each of the classes will begin at 1:00 p.m. and run approximately 2 hours.
