Mystery Writers of America, Florida Chapter authors, Julie Compton, Vicki Landis, Ann Meier Wednesday will discuss self-publishing, the benefits and pitfalls on Wednesday, March 12 from 2-4 p.m.in the W. T. Bland Public Library

Today, authors who want to get published have many options. This workshop will focus on the two most prevalent—traditional publishing and self-publishing—as well as the respective pros and cons. Will you get rich? How much can you realistically expect to make? How much are people really making? Is it worth the effort? Can you really create a career publishing on your own?

Julie Compton is the internationally published author of Tell No Lies, a legal thriller set in her original hometown of St. Louis; Rescuing Olivia, a romantic, contemporary thriller set in Florida; and Keep No Secrets, the sequel to Tell No Lies. Her traditionally published novels combine the suspense of thrillers with the drama of human relationships.

Victoria Landis, is a South Florida-based humor columnist and novelist. Blinke It Away is a suspense novel set on Oahu. It was chosen as a Reviewer's Pick on BookRooster.com for its consistently high ratings. . She writes both non-fiction and fiction in several genres, her latest published through Amazon. Her humor column appears monthly in The Parklander magazine.

Ann Meier lives in Orlando and writes Mysteries with a Theme Park Smile, a humorous cozy series featuring an Orlando attraction manager. Her current novel is Never Accept A Job From Men Wielding Chainsaws. She is represented by Elizabeth Trupin-Pulli of the JET Literary Agency.
