PASTELS are everywhere!!

It’s so unique how when the clocks spring forward our fashions automatically start to change, even if we don’t actually mean to do so. So one of the many 2014 spring fashion trends is pastels, a dose in your wardrobe can make all the difference. A thin over throw sweater, can be worn with shorts, jeans or a cute dress. A skinny jean in a pastel like, pink, blue or yellow is a great pastel staple piece and I found great ones at Target and Ross both under $20. Casual dresses and rompers are a big hit and always a great wear. I found these at Rue 21 all under $20 as well in different styles. You can twist your outfit by adding just a splash of pastel in your shoe choice like the wild paisley wedges, fold down combat boots or the skater girl high tops!

Enjoy spring, and remember a little dash of pastel is all you need!

The ‘Not-So-Ugly’ Holiday Sweater!

When we think of a holiday sweater we may have different ideas if a cat that meows when you pull the attached tail comes to mind or a heavy sweater that lights up!

Here are a collection of sweaters that are cute, and expressive without getting the authorities called for unnecessary ugliness to people’s eyes.

You can have a lot of fun with holiday sweaters without committing a fashion crime, with playful prints and loud colors!

I found these sweaters at Macy’s, Rue 21 and Ross all under $25.

Signature Fall Piece

Happy Fall!

This fall I have really fallen for the entire feeling of the faux leather jackets out this season.

No matter the color and in a variety of styles you can mix and match the jackets with almost every style from a concert with heels to a day at college in sneakers.

I found a beige indie style Faux leather jacket at Ross for only $11.99.You can also find these pieces at Forever 21, JCPenney even Hot Topic!

Enjoy what’s left of your summer loves!

I really think it’s fun to play around with fashion this time of year mixing summer with a hint of fall.

Suspenders are such a dorky accessory that they actually makes an outfit cute. Take your favorite band tee tuck it into a high waisted full skirt twist on a cool scarf and add suspenders now you’re ready for a super fun time!

With the hi/lo skirts you can be extra comfortable and super fashion forward by pairing it with a loose fitted tank top which can also be twisted by wearing a pencil skirt and wedges!

Enjoy what’s left of your summer loves!

I found all of these cute pieces at Hot Topic, Ross, Rue 21 and Charlotte Russe

Ahhh Spring!

The enticing allure of the warm Sunshine and extended days mean it is about time for some new pieces for your closet!

Sheer dresses are very flattering and great for spring/summer for so many occasions including to cover your swimsuit. I found these two on Modcloth.com and these great bags at Tilly’s. Fun jewelry is a great attribute especially during the hot months.

These snowcone earrings are from Hot Topic, the fedora from Target and the Candies flip-flops from Kohls! The Vintage style sunglasses swimsuit was from ModCloth.com, the dia de muertos pattern was Pin Up Girl Fashion and the punk influenced Heart swimsuit was at Hot Topic and well as the Music = Life bag. Then you can cover those up as well with the Bermuda shorts and the Crop top from Tilly’s.

Put on your shades, time for sun!

1 Hat, 2 FUN Looks!

Accessories can build any outfit to make it right for almost any occasion no mater how simple the base is. I found two wearable dresses that have a pretty simple design and low on the accents thus making them perfect for so many different scenarios because you can change the accessories.

Now, on the left is a high-low dress from Forever 21 that can be given a relaxed indie style with the bowler hat also from Forever 21, layers of bracelets and a large ring from Tilly’s ,with black boots with a girly jewel flare and skull scarf from Charlotte Russe.

For an edgier reflect on the indie style I choice a knotted black dress from Forever 21 still on the simple side. Once again the Bowler hat comes to play along with an arrowhead necklace and cross ring from Forever 21, dangling cross earnings and studded bracelets and watch from Tilly’s then bringing it all together with tights and black sandal wedges from Charlotte Russe! :) Happy February

Comfy with Style

The really fun thing about this post is that this entire look was put together at Rue 21, and all pretty affordable.  I wanted a look you could easily transition from a day at college to a night out while retaining both style and comfort. The look is kept fairly simple but you can add a headband or headpiece, earrings, bangles or keep it as is.

Poncho Style T-shirts … Welcome Spring!

Comfy poncho style T-shirts and hoodies can be paired with almost any look.  Here I have put together a few pieces that can be used for casual or dressy. By pairing the poncho top with a longer tank top underneath gives depth and length to the top then have fun with a stripped pencil skirt, and yess tights are a greattt accsessory for this look as well. Pair it with military style boots or detailed heel boots, then for a youthful infushion add a fun bag like this one of Sonic the hedghog and even a funky hat! You can find these poncho style tops at Target all for under $20 and the shoes, skirt and purple tank at Ross and the purse and hat at Hot Topic!

Putting together indie and vintage looks

Tights, Tights everywhere TIGHTS!   And all between $2 - $12.

But please, if I might ask, don’t wear the sheer skin color. This Fall is all about being bold and seen in all the insanely creative tight designs. Now regardless of your destination, this trend can fit nearly every outing… except maybe skiing… but that’s "to each's own". Anyway, these styles can be quick. You have a nice blouse you found on sale at Kohls and a pair of shorts...or you found a nice pair or tailored shorts and pair the look with unique tights. Have fun with these designs. Then pair them with a ballet flat, traditional wedge, Mary Janes or a heeled ankle boot.

For the more casual girl, slip a loose fitted boho top, cute shorts, but keep their pattern subtle since the shirt may have the eye catching pattern. Then have fun with the tights. Shoes I would say should be a nice sandal wedge or even Minnetonka boots.

And my favorite for that inner indie rocker chick - the Vintage T is the staple of changing this third look. You can pair this with tailored shorts or a ripped denim jean. Have fun with ripped leggings on the more grunge style of tights, and pair them with ‘Lower East Side’ ankle high black boots from Payless Shoes, I found mine half price at the Clermont location.

T2F and Halloween with some 40’s flare

Hello! We have just completed the Trash to Fashion event on October 22nd and Halloween is nearing closer my dears! The most excellent Comedy Troupe VaudeVillians appeared at the event with a retro theme at T2F and that got my brain storming with fashion thoughts of the past most exactly the 40’s!

The 1940’s was defined not by what was in style or what the celebrities were wearing but by a time of lack and war. With the backdrop being WWII fashion designs had mandatory rules placed over their creations enforced all the way down to the amount of buttons on a jacket even how many pleats were permitted in a skirt. Coming out of the 1930’s that was typified by the decorated pieces with long hemlines and luxurious fabrics the pieces evolved into both unpatriotic and unfashionable, replaced by a more exact female silhouette.

Uniforms were highly seen in all classes of society as well as remodeling an old blanket into a winner jacket or updating an old look with new collars and addons. Stockings were a must have and a woman’s Naval influence. If they were out of reach, the woman would simple stain the skin with cold tea or gravy browning and a steady hand would draw a line down the back of their calf with an eyeliner pencil. In 1942 the Incorporated Society of London Fashion Designers created 34 smart clothing designs and all government approved, coined the CC41 label. Some of those guidelines included; minimal cloth usage, no turn ups, maximum button limits, no more than 2 pockets, no more than 4m stitching, And certainly NO unnecessary decoration!

Strong lines is the big key to replicating this look well. If you were going for the pin-up girl look the hair was key because during that time it was the only thing without restrictions. Remember all the headpieces? They really added to the personality and style. Next, a fitted pencil skirt, a simple blouse and seamed stockings, and for a dress look also strong lines and a great silhouette of the female figure. To really capture the era, go for a dress with the military influence. Try ModCloth.com and pinupgirlclothing.com for wonderful vintage styles and accessories.

Pencil Skirts and TV influence!

I love how we can get inspiration from everything and everywhere. With the fall in motion as we are trading in our Red Bull for warm coffee and swimsuit cover-ups for layered tanks and t-shirts so comes the TV invasion of new sitcoms and dramas. Even if we don’t watch it is impossible to ignore the previews and the magazines publizing all the TV takeovers. This season with the new dramas some of us are looking more forward to the fashion we can see than the actual episode theme. With Pan Am resurrecting the classic and vintage 1960’s based fashion attention is back to the pencil skirt and classic pumps. Once Upon a Time brings back the gothic/ romance influence. Then for all of those under 30, our parents had Sex in the City styles we have Gossip Girl. With this new season over flowing with juicy off the runway fashion for work and school looks from posh and stylish Blair Waldorf to indie meets prep ivy.

I really like to put the early 90’s inspired crop tops with a longer tank top and a pencil skirt, which you can find various colors from $4-$15 at Ross. Crop tops can also be found at Forever 21, even Target. You can pair the look with a colorful pump, comfortable converse and even ballet flats but I saw these Victorian inspired heels at Ross and I loved the vintage appeal and the fact they were $14.99!!!! Add a vintage wallet from ModCloth to resemble a letter, just have fun with this fashion, and be comfortable!

Music Festival or Fashion addicts playground?

There is so much inspiration from the music festivals recently, I’ve seen long hippie messenger bags, distressed jeans and tasseled boots, music goers are going for extreme comfort, with my favorite pieces being the classic vintage T’s and the most fun in my opinion is tracking down these hidden fashions treasures. Your local vintage/consignment store is a great place to start, you can be almost certain you will come across some unexpected finds. I happened to stumbled across a classic New Kids on The Block, Prince and Ozzy Osbourne. Now what’s so great is this trend is not limited to music for instance; Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles even Gumby. You can really go crazy and have a good time because any theme vintage T really works.

Pair it with a dose of DIY shorts, Originally black jeans found at the local Goodwill for $4, they really needed some cosmetic surgery so I cut them right above the pockets so that the pockets hang below the cut of the shorts, and done brand new look!

Minnetonka tassel boots I found in Platos Closet that were under $10, And for the medium lengthed feather earring’s I merley recyled a pair of Faux diamond earrings by combining them with a $1 feather hair piece. Along with a black straw Fedora and Long loose vest that I both found at Ross for under $8.

Then a DIY hoodie purse, stating its life as a hoodie gaining a new lease on life as a purse:) Remember the longer the sleeves on the Hoodie the longer the strap on the purse will be. Here is a great link that explains the process step-by-step!

P.S. Another great Hoodie/Sweatshirt use without having to alter it one bit is to make it a computer sleeve, which is fantastic and convinent for nights when you really wish you had a sweatshirt tied around your waste to slip on, well just undo the sleeve wrapped around your computer and you have a warm sweatshirt:) Here is a photo guide of how to do this.

DIY Looks

I see such cute designer ‘off the shoulder’ looks these days, but they are always so expensive. Well, I love recycling my old clothes and with the resurrection of this 80’s inspired look transforming old T-shirts and sweatshirts into something new with very little effort is easy. To get the signature look for your t-shirt or sweatshirt just cut a large circle (or oval depending on how much you would like it to hang off your shoulder) and you're done! Pair it with a long tank top or cami and I would say you are good to go! But below I have also pasted some great ideas for FACE-LIFTING your aged clothes for inspiration, hope you enjoy:) And if you happen to have some old shoestring you can have some fun with a shoestring hippie headband:)

Alright, I found this great website where you can transform all of your old items into new looks and give your old wardrobe a new lease on life. http://www.ehow.com/cut-t-shirts/

Here is a site showing some of the current off the shoulder trends :) http://highfashionstyle.net/ladies-off-the-shoulder-t-shirts-trends-2011

Look what I found!

I was walking out of a shopping center in Kissimmee off of Hwy 192 and sitting outside was a lovely girl making hand-made hemp jewelry.

I got this unique bracelet made from soda can tops.

If your in the area today check her out in the shopping center where Nike and the Dollar Tree are located.

Summer Finds = Money Saved! Yay!

Hello People,

Enjoying this warm weather I hope! Well before you panic because you just noticed you have no summer wardrobe and not a lot of extra funds left for anything new ( if you plan on actually putting gas into a moving vehicle this summer). Here are some great pieces I found at crazy low prices!

I put together a summer casual ‘out with friends’ kinda look and I hope you can get some inspiration from it. Starting with a great tank and plaid Bermuda shorts from Tilly’s, a lazy summer cardigan that’s loose and awesome for hotttt weather from Ross for $7.99. I stumbled across this adorable ‘Love Is In Bloom’ bag from Forever 21 for only $1.50. I repeat $1.50! Pairing it with another $1.50 piece, the vintage feather earings and a the Fedora under $5, colorful bangles also under $5, the faux vintage gemstone ring, again under $5, and the WICKED “I’ve fallen for” blue pumps at Forever 21. Although they are a more expensive item at $15.99, they are so gorgeous and will work for so many things. I couldn’t pass them and leave them all by themselves. And it wouldn’t be summer without some shades so I paired it with black ones from Charlotte-Russe at yes …$5…

And as much as I lovvveee the blue pumps I know that fate has written that they will betray my feet, so when that does occur I have great back-up sandles stashed in that cute bag from Wal-Mart:)

Happy Summer!!!!!!!  Mandi
